Cerium oxide (CeO2) can exhibit good photocatalytic and photoantibacterial activities. However, its light-harvesting property is rather limited due to large band gap. In order boost these properties, doping with metal ions improve light absorption charge mobility. this report, CeO2 palladium−doped (Pd−CeO2) NPs were synthesized via the microwave-assisted synthesis method. The structural, optical, morphological studies of Pd−CeO2 carried out using various techniques. Mixed phases CeO2/Ce2O3 observed in pure (S−CeO2) Pd−CeO2. Ce2O3 phase gradually disappeared upon a higher percentage Pd. Almost spherical particles average sizes between 6 13 nm. It was found that incorporation Pd reduced particle size. Moreover, gap energies S−CeO2 from 2.56 2.27 eV, PL intensities also quenched more doping. shifts conduction valence cause reduction NPs. case degradation methylene blue, photoelectrochemical, activities, showed enhanced activities under visible irradiation. Therefore, have been shown be visible-light active material.
